Purpose
To recognize students who are outstanding students in career and technical education classes, career and technical student organizations, and their community. To recognize the award winner with a $200 cash award.
Eligibility
Individuals who are students in a career and technical education class and show through significant involvement that they have grown personally by the activities and accomplishments they obtain or achieve. Contributions and achievements would have been accomplished during the last four years. Individuals who are members of a career and technical student organization will be highly considered. Individuals who have contributed to civic or philanthropic causes will also be highly considered.
Application Procedures
Each nominee shall submit a nomination dossier as follows:
1. The Career and Technical students of the year nomination/endorsement form becomes page 1. This page is found at the end of these instructions and may be word-processed instead of using the form and typing the information required.
2. A description of career and technical education classes taken of not more than two pages. This description should discuss the impact these classes have had on the individual as to personal growth and impact on the individual’s future.
3. Support information becomes pages 4-5. This should include no more than two pages which describes the students involvement in:
a. Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) activities and must include dates of membership.
b. Contributions as a student in the CTSO and include activities and awards obtained.
c. Civic and Community involvement (to include civic and/or honorary memberships and community activities and contributions.
4. Letters of support, limited to a maximum of two and should be pages 6-7 of the Nomination Dossier. Letters should be one page in length. The letters should come from the following individuals:
a. The CTSO Advisor
b. A Community lay person
5. Portfolio of not more than two pages. This should include materials and activities that support Section 2 of the Nomination Dossier.
6. One 5” X 7” photograph of the nominee. The photograph is used for publicity purposes only. It will be returned if the nominee is not selected to receive an award.
All materials should be word-processed in Times Roman font or typewritten in not smaller than 10 pt. Type on 8 ½” X 11” sheets with ¾ inch margins, left, right, top, and bottom.This may be submitted as a bound book.No additional material may be submitted.Items not outlined above will be discarded before judging.
Nomination dossiers must include a 5” X 7” photograph, typewritten or word-processed description (in no less than 10 pt. Type on 8 ½ “ X 11” sheets with ¾” margins on left, right, top, and bottom) of the nominee’s career and technical education classes and accomplishments, support information including Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) memberships and activities, student contributions, education and experience background and civic and community involvement, support letters, appropriate signatures and this official nomination form to be considered by the Wyoming Association for Career and Technical Education Awards Committee.
